This year sees the 2016 Blind Match Racing Worlds - after GBR taking Gold, they have put on a winter programme to help new and old sailors gain greater skills before selection.
All sailors who match race rely on the sound each buoy makes to know where they are, as well as calling tactics against each other, with the aid of sound each boat makes. The winter programme was supported by sighted sailors being on board saying nothing unless a collision was immanent. This has been supported by David Bedford in the classroom putting the rules into tactile pictures.
This Match Racing program has seen people grow and take on a new challenge.
Blind Sailing are also taking part in Italian Open Blind Match Racing Nationals, as a training event for sailors and sighted support, the team have been grateful to those blind sailors that are supporting new sailors at this event.
