Another glorious day on the Great Lakes with the wind from the South East 12 - 14 knots with the sun shining.
With all teams in the top three, it was set to be an exciting day. B1’s where first out on to the water looking to get closer to the USA who were currently in 1st. The first race saw GBR have a good start leading into the top mark, but unusually poor rounding from GBR saw them struggle to get round the top mark. But good team work saw them stay strong and work their way back up the fleet to get 5th through the line, but with a few boats involved with protests, the result may change. GBR continued the morning’s sailing with a solid performance with two-firsts seeing them tie with the USA in first place overall.
B2s were looking solid in 1st after getting consistent 1st, the conditions stayed the same with the breeze dropping slightly, but after a bit of jostling on the start, GBR had good speed and strong boat handling skills, which saw them take 4 straight wins and become World Champions with a day to spare.
Both GBR B3 teams are battling it out for Gold, Lucy said: “I am proud of both teams, hard work across all the teams has paid off”. The racing saw the right-hand side of the beat pay all day and the boat that got out to the right first stay on top. The racing was close seeing each boat watching the other as points are tight. The start saw all boat battle for position. All four races of the day saw both teams battling it out but with Justin Smith having a good end to the day with two 1st.
