The charity has a long line of success at representing Great Britain at World level, but it is our grass routes and training for all our members that allows all sailors to grow.

 

Blind Sailing is a small charity but with great success and a long-term plan to continue to build, providing opportunities for all.  But we need help to enable the organisation to continue.

Blind Sailing hosts monthly training weekends which cater for all ages and abilities. These weekends provide valuable coaching time as well as bringing our sailors together in a supportive environment. Many of our young sailors find this particularly helpful as it gives them an opportunity to spend time with other visually impaired young people who experience the same challenges as them in day to day life.

Each year we are looking to enable more visually impaired people to get involved with sailing alongside competing in Match and Fleet racing events both in the UK and around the World.

We are an independent charity and work hard to raise funds in order to support the training and competition costs of our sailors. All of our members help to raise money and contribute towards their own costs. However, in order to continue our work with visually impaired sailors, we do need the financial support of sponsors, trusts and foundations.

​

We have included an estimate of our costs based on previous years to hold training and weekends for new sailors along with our own Blind Nationals;

 

Coached Weekends = £2,500

10 over 12 months @ £125 per day, including grassroots beginner sailors.

​

Sighted Support = £3,500

For training weekends; 10 over 12 months estimated costs.

​

Equipment Hire = £7,000

boats, ribs, and venues.

​

Open Blind Nationals = £3,000

Equipment, Race Officers Volunteer support.

​

Total Yearly Costs = £16,000

         

Any fundraising support would go along way in supporting the activities of our charity, Blind Sailing and help our sailors fulfill their dreams, and most importantly enabling a monthly program for current and new sailors. We work with our sponsors on a tailored basis to ensure we recognise your support effectively. Depending on the sponsorship level, we can offer;

·       Social media and web up-dates whilst we are racing and training which features your company name and logos.  

·       Mention in our press releases and daily updates to Yachts and Yachting online.  

·       Logo featured on team kit (subject to mutual agreement).

·       Employee engagement opportunities including volunteering.

·       Inspirational talks at team meetings and away days.

·       Opportunity to meet our sailors and their families.
